HonorAir has grown. From a community service project of Rotary Club of Asheville in 2008 it has grown into a District 7670 event and beyond. Rotary Club of Asheville still plays a key role in supporting the flights from our district by supplying volunteers and organization skills learned from our experiences with this great project.

In the fall of 2009 District 7670 held 2 more HonorAir flights.
In spring of 2010, on May 15th, 2010 (Armed Forces Day) Rotary Club of Asheville is again taking the lead helping with a District 7670 HonorAir flight to the WWII Memorial in Washington DC. For questions about HonorAir, or to volunteer contact one of the co-Chairs for this project:

8:00 - 12:00 Pre-flight meeting

Saturday, May 15th Schedule:
6:30 - 7:30 am Veterans assemble at Asheville Regional Airport
7:30 - 8:00 am Veterans, guardians, teams leaders and medical staff board plane
8:00 - 9:00 am US Air charter flight to Reagan Airport, Washington DC
9:30 - Board buses for drive to WWII Memorial
10:00 - 11:30 am Veterans visit WWII Memorial and visit public officials
11:30 - 12:30 Box lunches in tents near Memorial
12:30 - 1:00 Board buses and go to Lincoln Memorial
1:00 - 2:30 pm Visit Linclon, Korean War, and Viet Nam War Memorials
2:30 - 3:00 pm Board buses and go to Arlington Cemetery
3:00 - 4:30 pm Change of Guard at Tomb of the Unknown in Arlington Cemetery
4:30 - 5:00 pm Board buses and return to Reagan Airport
5:00 - 6:00 pm Check in and board airplane for return flight to Asheville
6:00 - 7:00 pm Return US Air flight to Asheville
7:00 - 8:00 pm Greet returning heroes and send them on their way
