Rotary Club of Asheville Adopt-a-Stream

Rotary Club of Asheville, NC
Service Above Self

The Rotary club of Asheville, in cooperation with Riverlink has adopted a section of the French Broad River near Carrier Park off Amboy Road in East Asheville. As a Community Service Project our club participates in twice-a-year river cleanup drives where we don work clothes boots and gloves and we rid the riverbanks of accumulated trash.

On the same weekend, other organizations from churches, other civic and service clubs, grade schools, middle scholls, high schools and local colleges and universities all descend upon the river with eager hearts and hands collect trash of all sorts.

From canoes and rubber rafts, from the shorlines and marshes hundreds of volunteers show up to clean the portion of the river claimed by their company or club.

Everything from old beer and soft drink cans to boatloads of tires are gathered up and hauled away, leaving our local river and its banks clean once again. For more photos go to Website Photo Album.
